Constitutional Council meeting underway at Singha Durbar, likely to recommend new Chief Justice

KATHMANDU: The Constitutional Council (CC) meeting has started at the Prime Minister’s office, Singha Durbar.

The meeting is expected to discuss the recommendation of the name of the Chief Justice as Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki’s tenure is ending on Friday.

Today’s meeting is most likely to recommend Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha as Chief Justice.

According to Prime Minister’s Secretariat sources, along with Constitutional Council Chairman Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, opposition party CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Timalsina, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka are participating in the meeting.
