HoR Meeting postponed until August 7

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, which was initially scheduled to be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, has been postponed until August 7, according to an announcement by the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

The decision to postpone the meeting for a week came after the main opposition party, CPN-UML, declared that they would not allow the parliament to function unless a high-level committee was formed to investigate the gold scandal.

In an effort to address the obstruction, Speaker Devraj Ghimire convened a meeting of the Task Management Consultative Committee on Tuesday afternoon. However, the meeting failed to reach an agreement as the CPN-UML maintained their stance to continue the protest and obstruction until their demand for the formation of a High-level Committee to investigate the gold scam was met.

Due to the lack of consensus on forming the committee, the HoR meeting could not take place today, leading to its postponement until August 7.
