Nepal has potential to be developed as world’s sports hub: PM Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has pointed out that Nepal could be developed as the world’s sports hub.
Addressing the Policy-level Dialogue on Sports Infrastructures -2079 organized by the National Sports Council (NSC) in Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Dahal assured that the sports sector would be prioritized and promoted considering the possibility of paving ways for developing Nepal as World’s sports hub.
UML to field Sarvendra Khanal in Tanahu-1 and Ram Neupane in Chitwan-2
CPN-UML has selected candidates for Chitwan-2 and Tanahun-1 for the by-elections to be held on April 23.
The UML Secretariat meeting held at the party central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur on Saturday decided to nominate former IGP Sarvendra Khanal for Tanahun 1 and Ram Prasad Neupane for Chitwan-2.
UML has not decided on the candidate for Bara-2 yet.
RSP to field Rabi Lamichhane, Swarnim Wagle, and Ramesh Kharel in April 23 by-elections
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has announced the candidates to contest in the by-elections set for Chitwan-2, Bara-2, and Tanahu-1.
Organizing a press conference at the party office in Basundhara on Saturday, RSP chairman Lamichhane claimed that his party has offered the best candidates in the by-elections.
RSP decided to field Chairman Lamichhane in Chitwan-2, renowned economist Dr. Swarnim Wagle in Tanahu-1, and former DIG Ramesh Kharel in Bara-2.
Govt’s priorities will be released through CMP: DPM Khadka
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka has said that the government’s priorities would be released through the Common Minimum Program (CMP) in a few days.
The development works and prosperity initiatives would be moved accordingly, he stated.
Meanwhile, Minister Khadka, also the Defense Minister, said that the Nepali Congress vowed to work for the country and people, arguing that his important responsibility was to protect Nepali soil for which the Defense Ministry had strategic value.
Giri reportedly sets world record by walking downstairs on hands
A Nepal Army man has claimed that he has set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest inverted stair walking.
Hari Chandra Giri reportedly walked, on his hands, down 77 stairs in 25.03 seconds, ‘breaking’ the world record earlier kept by Mark Kenny from the United States of America, the world’s best hand walker. Kenny walked, on his hand, down 77 stairs in 30.8 seconds.
Nepal sees 38 coronavirus cases in 24 hours, active cases 171
Nepal recorded 38 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.
Out of the confirmed cases 15 were tested through the RT-PCR method and 23 through the Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 656 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
Out of them, 118 swabs were tested through the RT-PCR method and 538 through the Antigen method.
There are 171 active cases in Nepal as seven infected patients recovered in the past 24 hours.
