Govt is serious about loan-sharking issue: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has assured the usury victims of addressing their problems institutionally forming a high-level commission.

Talking to the victims of loan sharking at his official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday morning, the Prime Minister remarked that the government has taken the issue seriously and assured to help them get justice.

According to Prime Minister Dahal’s secretariat, the loan-sharking victims requested Prime Minister Dahal help them get rid of the vicious cycle of interest.

The loan-sharking victims arrived in Kathmandu a few days ago, after walking from Terai for 11 days, with the hope of returning home after settling their issue.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has already held three rounds of talks with them.

Deputy Prime Minister and newly appointed Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha informed, on assuming the office on Friday, that he has made the first decision to form a commission empowered to solve the problems of loan-sharking victims. He also promised to take a proposal to the cabinet soon.
