22 people die in road mishaps in Nawalpur in seven months



NAWALPUR: Twenty-two people lost their lives to road accidents in a period of seven months in Nawalparasi ( Bardghat Susta East).

According to the District Police Office, Nawalpur, the district reported 47 road accidents in the given time with 61 cases of severe and 87 minor injuries.

The highest number of accidents was in the month of Mangsir (November-December) with eight casualties, according to Office information officer Santosh Pathak.

In the fiscal year 2020-21, the district recorded 113 cases of road accidents with 46 casualties as compared to 95 cases with 41 deaths in the last fiscal year. The data assessment of the past two and half year shows that a total of 109 people were killed from 265 road accidents in the district, and 616 injured.

The district has topped the entire Gandaki Province in terms of the number of traffic accidents.  According to Office Chief Bhuwaneshwor Tiwari, the office has launched various awareness programs with the aim to promote road safety in the district.
