Woman dies in elephant attack

JHAPA: A woman has died after being attacked by an elephant in Shivsatakshi municipality-11 of Jhapa.

The incident took place at around 2:00 am today. Krishna Maya Bhandari was attacked as she tried to escape from the elephants that were bringing her house down.

Seriously injured in the attack, Krishna Maya died during treatment at the local hospital.

The elephant also attacked her husband Shanti Ram Bhandari and seriously injured him.

He is undergoing treatment. A group of four elephants including a baby elephant had entered the village from the nearby jungle at around 11 pm on Saturday.
