Govt prosecutor files case against Sandeep Lamichhane at Kathmandu District Court



KATHMANDU: A case has been registered against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane at Kathmandu District Court, on Monday, demanding 12 years imprisonment.

A government lawyer filed a case against Lamichhane in the district court in Kathmandu.

The police completed the investigation a week ago and submitted the report to the district public prosecutor’s office.

Citing the provisions of the National Criminal Code, the report demanded the rapist of a teenage girl between the ages of 16 and 18 years should be sentenced to 10 to 12-year imprisonment.

Accused of a raping a 17-year-old girl, Sandeep was arrested for investigation on October 6 from the airport after he came to Nepal.

The girl filed a complaint at Gaushala Police Circle, on August 6, on the allegation that Sandeep raped her in a hotel room in Gaushala, Kathmandu.

Sandeep has been denying the allegations leveled against him.
