Suspended Chief Justice Rana’s statement begins in parliamentary committee

KATHMANDU: The Impeachment Recommendation Committee formed to probe on the impeachment motion filed against the suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has started taking his statement.

Although the meeting of the Recommendation Committee was to be held from 11:00 am, the statement started about an hour and a half later than the scheduled time.

Suspended Chief Justice Rana had reached at the Singha Durbar on time; however, the conflict among the ruling and main opposition parties lawmakers on whether to allow the media in the hall delayed the hearing.

According to a lawmaker who is also a member of the probe committee, the lawmakers will ask about 64 questions to the suspended Chief Justice Rana.

Nepal Bar Association has submitted 21 questions to the committee and the committee has prepared 43 questions on their own meant to be asked to Rana.

The Committee is planning to seek written and spoken statements from the suspended CJ.
