KARNALI: The Lapha section under the Karnali Corridor has been damaged due to rain halting transportation since one week.

As a result, trucks carrying goods and passenger vehicles have been stuck midway, said local people.

“My truck laden with goods is heading to Bajura. But it has been stuck due to the damaged road,” said a truck driver, Mahabir Khadka, adding that passengers, vehicle drivers and their helpers have been left in the lurch as a result.

The road has been muddy due to rain, causing vehicles get stuck, he said.

The road has been closed since one week. But, initiatives in opening the road have yet to be taken, complained local resident Krishna Bahadur Bam.

“The road division office is not concerned about the damaged road. The road got obstructed almost on a daily basis,” he said.

The local government has taken initiatives in opening the obstructed road, said Devjung Shahi, chairperson of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality, however.

It requires a dozer to clear the road and a search for it is underway, he added.
