Maoist Center holding Standing Committee meeting

To finalize whether to send Janardhan Sharma or a new face to Finance Ministry

KATHMANDU: The ruling Maoist Center is holding a meeting of the Standing Committee (SC) to discuss and finalize the name of the Minister of Finance to be sent to the cabinet.

A member of the SC said that the meeting to be held on Sunday afternoon at the party headquarters in Paris Danda in Koteswor will decide whether to send Janardan Sharma to the Finance Ministry or send a new face.

Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Sharma are in favor of giving re-appointment to Sharma since the latter has been acquitted by the parliamentary special investigation committee.

Sharma, meanwhile, is reluctant to return to the Ministry, leaders close to him have said.

“Former Finance Minister Sharma is in favor of sending a new face to the Ministry,” a leader said.

The parliament Committee has given a clean chit to Sharma by saying that no evidence of unauthorized persons entering the Ministry of Finance during the preparation of the budget was found.
