KATHMANDU: The remains of 22 people who were killed in the Sunday’s Tara Air crash at Thasang Rural Municipality-2 in Mustang have been brought to Kathmandu.
According to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) general manager Prem Nath Thakur, the bodies of ten were brought on Monday evening and of the remaining 12 were dropped at TIA Tuesday by a Nepal Army helicopter.
All the bodies have been sent to the TU Teaching Hospital for post-mortem. They will be handed to the respective families after the post-mortem.
A committee to probe the crash was formed on Monday at the direction of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale. The five-member committee is headed by senior aeronautical engineer Ratischandra Lal Suman and captain Dipu Jwarchan, senior maintenance engineer Upendra Lal Shrestha, senior meteorologist Mani Ratna Shakya and Ministry joint-secretary Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane are its members.
The wreckages of a Twin Otter were found on Monday on a cliff beneath the Manapathi Peak. The plane en route to Jomsom, Mustang from Pokhara Airport had left for its destination at 9:55 am on Sunday and had its last contact with the air traffic controller system at 10: 07 am.
A total of 22 people, including three crew members, were on board plane.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, those on the plane were Captain Prabhakar Prasad Ghimire, co-pilot Utsav Pokhrel, air hostess Kismi Thapa, passengers Indra Bahadur Gole, Purushottam Gole, Rajan Kumar Gole, Basant Lama, Ganesh Narayan Shrestha, Raveena Shrestha, Rashmi Shrestha, Rozina Shrestha, Prakash Sunuar, Makar Bahadur Tamang, Rammaya Tamang, Sukamaya Tamang, Tulasa Devi Tamang, Vaibhawi Bandekar (India), Ashok Kumar Tripathi (India), Dhanush Tripathi (India), Ritika Tripathi (India), Mick Grat, (Germany) and Yuvi Wilner (Germany).
