‘Govt for establishing Nepal as a leading nation on press freedom’



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government’s spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said the government wants to establish Nepal as a leading country in the South Asia in terms of press freedom.

In a prize distribution and felicitation program announced on 37th anniversary of Nepal Television in the Capital City on Monday, Minister Karki expected assistance from the stakeholders to materialize the government’s plan adding that all should take a proactive step for the same.

On the occasion, Karki said Nepal Television should be established as the first choice of all and the government was ready to provide needed support.

Saying that Nepal Television should raise the voices of all ethnic and lingual communities, Minister Karki pledged for the government’s assistance, support and protection for such efforts.

Executive Chair of Nepal Television Samir Jung Shah, General Manager Phulman Bal Tamang and others pledged for the growth and development of NTV and career development of its journalists and employees.
