NC wins in Triyuga municipality



GAIGHAT: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Basant Kumar Basnet has been elected as Mayor of Triyuga municipality. Basnet won the mayoral post with 13,959 votes.

His nearest rival Bhagwat Raut of UML got 11,838 votes.

Similarly, UML’s Maheshwari Rai received 13,703 votes to be elected as the Deputy Mayor. Her nearest rival Sarita Rai of the Nepali Congress got 11,918 votes while Geeta Khadka of the CPN (Maoist Centre) got 6,568 votes.

Out of 16 wards of the municipality, NC won in wards 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13, UML won in wards 2, 6, 7 and 10 while the Maoist Center won in wards 14, 15 and 16, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer.
