Call to register companies providing Nepal-India vehicular services as official operators



KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has called upon service providers, who want to operate vehicles between Nepal and India, to be listed as official operators.

The department, issuing a notice earlier, said it would list companies providing Nepal-India vehicular services as official operators for regulatory reasons.

There are 13 various routes from Kathmandu and other cities of the country to different parts of India.

According to an agreement, official operators of Nepal and India are permitted multiple entries between the two countries for a period of one year, and permits can be renewed for a maximum of five years.

The DoTM stated vehicles of official operators should use the official routes, immigration and customs points while leaving or entering any of the two countries.

Likewise, official operators should carry various documents along with them such as vehicle registration certificate, inspection certificate, insurance documents, road permits, pollution inspection certificate and driver’s license, among others.

Similarly, official operators registered in one country and allowed to operate in another country, as per the agreement, would not be allowed to transport local passengers and goods in the territory of another country.
