MCC cannot be executed despite parliamentary approval: CPN Gen Secy Chand

KATHMANDU: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has said that the United States project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) cannot be implemented despite its ratification from the parliament.

Addressing the National Gathering of the Scientific Socialist Communist Party, he said his party had put brakes on the Upper Karnali project.

“There was a conspiracy in Nepal to take the water of Karnali River from the Himalayas lying between Dailekh and Achham to Lucknow,” he said, adding that the project still has not moved forward.

He said that now it was time to form a joint front to fight against MCC. “The MCC cannot be implemented simply with the approval of the parliament,” he said.

He stressed formation of a front to hinder the implementation of MCC.
