JANAKPURDHAM: Newly-elected members of the Madhesh State Assembly are taking the oath of office and secrecy today.

The swearing-in will be held at 2 pm today in Janakpurdham.

Ranjit Kumar Yadav, Secretary of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, informed that the senior member of the Provincial Assembly, Gobinda Bahadur Neupane, will administer the oath to the provincial parliamentarians.

As a senior member, Neupane was administered the oath by state chief Harishankar Mishra on Friday.

In accordance with Article 182, Sub-section (5) of the Constitution of Nepal, Section 75 of the Provincial Assembly Member Election Act, 2074, there is a provision to preside over the Provincial Assembly as a senior member.

Neupane of Unified Samajwadi was elected from Provincial Assembly-1 of Saptari 4 in the elections held on November 20.
