NC General Secretary Thapa urges govt to focus dengue control



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa demanded that the government focused on dengue control.

Stating that the viral disease has taken its toll on people’s lives at a time when festivals are around the corner, he said, “Prime Minister should call the government’s emergency meeting and representatives of local government and launch a nationwide campaign to contain the disease.”

The leader was speaking at a function organized by the Nepali Congress Kathmandu constituency 4 here Friday.

The former health minister also called for the government to come up with special ways to reduce and prevent the infection and deal with dengue patients flooded at hospitals across the country.

The government should not stay away from its responsibility to people during this pandemic, he said.

On a different note, he viewed there had been complaints about ‘unjustifiable’ treatment within the party and demanded the launch of a party purification campaign and a new type of struggle within the party.

He also stressed the need for creating job opportunities within the country for youths.
