Consumption of petroleum products increases by 75 percent

With the start of Dashain festival, consumption of petroleum products has increased suddenly.

The consumption of diesel and petrol has increased by 75 percent with the start of Dashain festival as compared to previous time, according to Nepal Oil Corporation.

Earlier, 2.2 million liters petrol used to be consumed in a day. Now, consumption of petrol has reached 3.5 million litres daily in recent days.

NOC Spokesperson Binitmani Upadhyay said 5.5 million litres diesel is being consumed daily against 3.5 million daily.

Govt distributing free Cetamol for Valley hospitals, local levels

With the sharp rise in dengue cases in the Kathmandu Valley, the government has provided a total of 550,000 units of Cetamol for 14 local levels of Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts, and 16 hospitals.

The Ministry of Health and Population provided pain relieving medicine for free to the local levels and hospitals to help support the treatment of dengue patients.

The Department of Health Services stated that the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Lalitpur Metropolitan City are given equal 100,000 units of Cetamol while Kageshwori Manohara, Kirtipur, Gokarneshwor, Tokha, Tarakeshwor, Dakshinkali, Nagarjun, Budhanilkantha, Shankharapur, Mahalaxmi and Godavari municipalities are given 20,000 units of Cetamol each.

Press Office established at Election Commission

The Election Commission has set up and brought into operation the Press Office at its Secretariat at Bahadur Bhawan in view of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly election scheduled for November 20.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumr Thapaliya inaugurated the Office today.

On the occasion, he said that a mechanism including experts has been prepared for the prompt dissemination of the Commission’s activities and information.

CEC Thapaliya urged the mass media to extend support in conducting the election in a free, fair, independent and impartial manner keeping in mind self-regulation and self-censorship.

Time has come for a rebellion in the party: NC Gen Secy Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the time has come for a rebellion within the party.

Addressing a program in Kathmandu’s Chabahil on Friday, Thapa said since the coalition was only meant to win the election it is high time that the party needed serious cleansing.

Thapa said that the party was becoming a “weapon to get power” claiming that the parties were confined within the circle of elections.

Minister Yadav returns home from the USA

Minister of Forests and Environment Pradeep Yadav has returned home today, participating in a four-day event in the USA.

Minister Yadav participated in the ‘Global Methane, Climate and Clean Air Forum 2022’ representing the government of Nepal.

Yadav, during the event, participated in deliberations on what kind of technical policy to be adopted by the countries to reduce methane gas emission, according to the Secretariat of Minister Yadav.

Furthermore, he also participated in the discussion on global efforts to reduce methane and other short-lived climate pollutants.

Police make three arrests in Lal Mohammad murder case

Police have arrested three persons in connection to the murder of Mohammad Darji, 58, in Gothatar of Kageshwari Manohara-8 on September 19.

Issuing a press statement, District Police Range, Kathmandu, said it has arrested Mahoram Miyan, 21, of Birgunj-16 of Parsa, Rehan Miyan, 19, of Birgunj-15 of Parsa, and Susmita Syangtang, 21, of Bakaiya-1 of Makwanpur presently living in Faika of Kapan, Kathmandu.

The investigation against the three is underway, according to the police.

The assailants, who came on a motorcycle, shot Darji right after he got off a car near his house at around 6:31 pm. He had succumbed to injuries at around 9:35 pm.

Mishra to contest election from Kathmandu Constituency-1

Rabindra Mishra, who joined the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) earlier this week, has announced that he would contest the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Kathmandu Constituency-1.

Mishra, the senior Vice Chairman of RPP, announced his candidacy at a program held in the capital on Friday.

In the last elections held in 2074BS, he had contested from the same constituency.

He was defeated by Nepali Congress candidate Prakashman Singh.

While NC leader Singh got 10,937 votes, Mishra garnered 10,180 votes.

Gold price up by Rs 200 per tola

The price of gold has increased by Rs 200 in the domestic market today.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the hallmark gold is being traded at Rs 93,000 per tola.

The price of the yellow metal was Rs 92,800 per tola on Thursday.

Nepal sees 63 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 63 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Friday.

Of the confirmed cases, 30 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 33 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 2,535 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 941 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 1,594 through the Antigen method.

Ex-President Yadav urges young generation to do politics in favor of voiceless people

Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has urged the young generation to take politics ahead in favour of voiceless people of the country.

At a program organized on the occasion of 153rd Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non-Violence -2079 at Kadaghari of Kathmandu today, he opined that a time has come to do politics in favor of voiceless people by following the Gandhi’s path.

Talking that Gandhi led the movement of freedom connecting it with society, people and country in India, former President Yadav shared that Gandhi’s had significant contribution to disbanding the British Empire by organizing Charkha movement.

9th National Games: Women Cricket’s match schedule unveiled

The National Sports Council has made public the match schedule of the Women Cricket to be played under the 9th National Games in Pokhara. The 9th National Games are being held from October 14-20 October in Gandaki Province.

The women’s cricket match will be held in the Pokhara Cricket Stadium from October 9-18 October this year.

Altogether 9 domestic teams will play in the competition in two groups.

Male Cricket competition under the 9th National Games has already been held.
