KATHMANDU: Despite Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s assurance to give 30 percent “share” to the disgruntled camp of the party, the intra-party row seems to be getting even more complicated as the latter demanded that the names of Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Manju Khand be removed from the list of Proportional Representation (PR).
While Dr. Arzu is the spouse of Prime Minister and party President Deuba, Manju is the spouse of Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand.
The Dr. Shekhar Koirala camp, which has been protesting against the distribution of tickets, has proposed that both husband and wife should not be nominated as candidates in the election.
The disgruntled faction has demanded that the closed list be revised.
The leaders of both sides engaged in discussions at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday after the party leadership expressed its willingness to revise the closed list.
However, the Koirala faction has demanded that two leaders from the same house should not be nominated at any cost.
The Koirala faction on Wednesday staged a sit-in at the party office in Sanepa and organized a meeting at a tea reception in Gaushala on Thursday morning.
Party President Deuba is willing on giving a 30 percent “share” to the Koirala camp.
