Karnali Province CM Shahi calls for retaining originality of Teej festival



SURKHET: Chief Minister of Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has stressed the need for retaining originality of Teej festival and shunning its celebration in an extravagant way.

May this festival encourage people to create an equitable society by ending all sorts of inequality including gender and ethnic discriminations existing in the society, he said in a message of best wishes on the occasion of Haritalika Teej.

“Teej has helped bind the society in a thread of a unity of sentiments. It has its own originality and has strengthened relations among sisters, friends, families and relatives of Nepali people.”

He expressed the hope that such religious and cultural festivals would help maintain unity, religious tolerance and social harmony among all Nepali people. Hindu women are observing the festival across the country today.
