KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat has argued that party system should be made robust in Nepal also to maintain a balanced international relations in view of the nation’s landlocked situation.

Speaking at a program organized to congratulate the newly-elected working committee of Nepal Press Union in Kathmandu on Saturday, the NC leader cautioned that the trend of independent politics which is seen in the country lately could be damaging for the sustainable development of the country.

He further claimed that the independent leadership elected in some local levels have not delivered as promised.

KMC Mayor Balendra Shah has also been struggling for the waste management of the town, he argued.

During the program, Mahat claimed that only the NC can maintain a balanced relations with the neighboring countries while calling for course correction within the party in some aspects.

NC’s position should be strong to ensure nation’s prosperity and independence, he said while urging the party’s well-wishers to prepare for the upcoming polls to win more seats.

On the occasion, NC central committee members Ramjanam Chaudhary, Nain Singh Mahar, Nrip Bahadur Wad and other leaders expressed their views on democracy, press freedom and independent politics.
