Film sector will be developed as specialized industry: Minister Karki



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, has expressed the belief that Nepali film sector should be developed as a specialized industry.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday on the occasion of 22nd anniversary of the Film Development Board, also the Spokesperson of the government, Karki said the ministry has been preparing laws, acts and other structures related to this as per the objective of developing the film sector as the specialized industry.

He shared that the film sector should be developed as the attraction of all and the sector of opportunity by increasing service and facility of film artistes appreciating their contribution in the film sector.

“Preparation is on to construct film shooting spots in all 77 districts with the use of developed technology in film sector in recent period. This task will get completion soon,” opined Minister Karki.

He further said that the film sector should play significant role in prosperous nation building along with the economic, social and cultural development.

Similarly, Secretary of the Communications Ministry, Dr Baikuntha Aryal shared that discussion was underway to show the Nepali films in film halls in abroad with an objective of promoting Nepali films in international arena.

On the occasion, Board presented special category identity card to 62 film artists including Bhuwan KC, Dr Bhola Rijal, Sanu Kumar Tamrakar, Rajaram Poudel, Shiva Dhakal and Kiran Kumar KC.
