Tara Air crash: Mortal remains of 10 casualties brought to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The mortal remains of 10 passengers’ onboard the Tara Air aircraft that crashed in Mustang on Sunday have been brought to Kathmandu.

The bodies were initially taken to Kobang of Mustang from the accident site situated at an altitude of 14,500 ft at the base of Manapathi peak and were flown to Kathmandu via Pokhara on a Nepali Army helicopter.

PM Deuba assures of bill to amend statute of limitations for registering rape case

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has pledged to come up with a bill to amend the law regarding rape. As he said, a bill to withdraw the statute of limitation for registering a complaint against rape would be introduced.

In his address to a main celebration program organized on the occasion of the Fourth National Women Rights Day in Kathmandu on Monday, the Prime Minister vowed to adopt a zero tolerance against women violence and implement the rights to inclusion, equality and equity granted by the Constitution.

DoTM cancels more than 572,000 license applications, new system to be enforced from today

The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has canceled all online applications for driver’s licenses.

The Department has stated that all the online applications received so far have been canceled and the new system is being added.

According to DoTM more than 572,000 applications have been rejected so far and the arrangements have been made to close the old application and apply through the new system.

Former DIG Koirala sent to Central Jail

Former DIG of the Armed Police Force Ranjan Koirala has been remanded in custody after the Supreme Court overturned a decision to reduce his imprisonment sentence in a case related to his wife’s murder.

According to SSP Basanta Kunwar of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Koirala is sent to the Sundhara-based Central Jail.

Probe panel formed to investigate into Tara Air plane crash

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation formed a five-member panel to probe into the Tara Air plane crash that occurred in Mustang district on Sunday.

Issuing a press statement on Monday, the Ministry said Senior Aeronautical Engineer Ratish Chandra Lal Suman would lead the team.
