KATHMANDU: Preparations are underway to bring the bodies of the passengers and crew who died in the Tara Air plane crash.

A plane flying from Pokhara to Jomsom had crashed on Sunday morning.

Rescue teams are yet to reach the spot to retrieve the bodies of the deceased passengers and crew from Sanosware near Kowang in Thasang of the Mustang district.

General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Prem Nath Thakur said that the body would be brought to the TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj as soon as they are brought to Kathmandu.

“The weather is still inclement. The rescue team is yet to reach the spot to collect the body. The bodies will be brought by Army MI-17 helicopter,” said Thakur.

Similarly, preparations are underway to form a committee to investigate the accident.

The plane crashed at Sanosware near Kowang in Thasang-2 of Mustang district.

The twin-engine of Tara Air’s plane went out of contact while taking off from Pokhara at 9:55 am on Sunday.

The aircraft was flying to Jomsom from Pokhara Airport with 19 passengers and three crew members.

Four of the passengers were women. The crew members were Prabhakar Ghimire (pilot), Utsav Thapa (co-pilot), and Air Hostess Kismi Thapa.
