Govt permits NEA to construct 400KV inter-country transmission line

KATHMANDU: The government has permitted the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to construct the second inter-country transmission line between Nepal and India.

The NEA has got the permission to construct the 400KV double circuit transmission line which will stretch from Butwal in Nepal to Gorakhpur in India. The total length of the transmission line will be 140 kilometers, of which 20 km lies in Nepal and 120 km in India.

A energy secretary level meeting of Nepal and India held in Bangalore on October 13-14, 2018, had decided to construct the transmission line which is considered important for exporting electricity.
