Test supply of Melamchi water conducted on 532 kms pipeline



KATHMANDU: Test supply of water has been conducted along the 532 kilometers of pipelines, out of 1,010 kilometers of connectivity, developed by the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited Project Implementation Directorate for the distribution of water collected from the Melamchi River in Sindhupalchowk district.

According to Directorate Spokesperson Chandra Kumar Shrestha, preparations go on for test supply in the remaining areas.

The test was carried out in the new distribution system.

During the test distribution, water pipes in the Naya Bazar, Baneshwor and Lainchaur areas were found broken in course of the installation of underground electric wire and sewage system management works undertaken by the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Kathmandu metropolis respectively.

Teams were promptly mobilized to restore the damaged structures, it is said.
