Meeting of ruling coalition underway at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the seven-party ruling coalition to discuss cabinet expansion and power-sharing is underway at Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar.

The meeting of the ruling coalition called on Wednesday for the allocation of ministries was postponed due to the lack of preparation.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ met CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, United Samajwadi Party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav separately on Wednesday morning.

According to a leader, the initial blueprint for the ministry allocation has been prepared by the leaders.

Although UML, the largest party in the coalition has claimed 12 ministries, it is likely to get only 10.

UML Vice-Chairman Bishnu Poudel has been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; UML is still to finalize the list of ministers.

Similarly, Maoist Center, which has claimed 7 ministries, is likely to get 5 seats.

Maoist Center Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
