NC election manifesto released: Pledges to create 1.2 million jobs within 5 years
The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) unveiled its election manifesto today, pledging to deliver on a host of agendas after being elected in the upcoming parliamentary election on November 20.
The NC has expressed its determination to lead the next government yet again while safeguarding the constitution and envisioning a prosperous Nepal.
The party’s slogan for the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections is ‘Safeguarding constitution, base for stability and prosperity: Next government will be led by Nepali Congress’ and the manifesto presents pledges for the continuation of newness and a prosperous Nepal.
The oldest democratic party in the country also expressed its commitment to create 1.2 million jobs within five years while aiming to achieve at least 7 percent of annual economic growth. NC will adopt policy to increase the share of domestic manufacturing industries in the national economy from present 5.6 percent to 9 percent.
Indian company to provide compensation to a child killed in a blast
Indian side has admitted that it was at fault in the incident of the death of a Nepali child in Byas Rural Municipality-2 of Darchula on Friday in the ongoing road construction in the Indian side.
Mangalsingh Dhami, Chairman of Vyas Rural Municipality, said that the Indian side accepted the mistake during the discussion with the victim’s family and local people’s representatives on Saturday.
He said that the Indian side was ready to accept the mistake and provide compensation.
Dhami said, “We discussed with the Indian side today. There is no agreement on how much cash will be given to the victim’s family. It has been agreed that the children of the victim’s family will be educated up to class 12 and one of the victim’s family will be given employment.”
The nine-year-old Pawan Mahara was walking on the road on the Nepali side of the border when the blast happened.
He was returning home from Tambakhu.
According to Dhiran Singh Budhathoki, Chairman of Vyas Rural Municipality Ward No 2, said a stone coming from the Indian side of the border hit Mahara.
Two die in Kalikot bomb blast
Two children have died in the Kalikot bomb blast that occurred at Tilagufa-10, Ranabada, Kalikot on Saturday.
According to Ramhari Sharma, the Chief District Officer of Kalikot 4-year-old local Jharna Thapa died on the spot at around 8 am and 4-year-old Saraswati Thapa died while undergoing treatment at around 11.30.
CDO Sharma informed that that 7-year-old Kamal Thapa, 5-year-old Mushkan Thapa, and 3-year-old Pakhana Thapa of the same place were injured in the same bomb blast.
Mithilanchal observing Sama Chakewa from today
Sama Chakewa festival observed as a symbol of love between brothers and sisters has started from today in Mithilanchal.
This festival starts today (Saturday) from Panchami and will last for 10 days. For ten days, women of Mithilanchal wish for the longevity of their brothers and play Sama Chakewa.
On this day, in the morning, the sisters sing songs in groups and play sama chakewa and pray for long life of all the brothers in the group.
Motorboats resume operating in Narayani river
Motorboats have started operating in Narayani river after the rains subsided.
Operation of motorboats had been stopped after the water flow increased and they resumed along with the festivals.
Motorboat service is closed for three months due to floods in rainy season. Lately, there has been an influx of domestic tourists enjoying riding motorboats on the Narayani river.
President of the Narayani Motorboat Business Association, Ashesh Malla, said that the motorboat operation has been delayed due to post-monsoon rainfall.
The motorboats will now be operated regularly. There are 20 small and big motorboats currently operating in the Narayani river.
The motorboat companies are currently providing services from two locations.
1.8 million rupees collected in revenue from traffic rule violators
The Baglung District Traffic Police Office has collected Rs.1.8 million in review from the penalty imposed against the drivers who violated traffic rules.
The amount was collected in the three months of the current financial year.
Traffic police chief Raj Kumar KC said that the revenue was collected from 2,850 drivers who violated traffic rules in the months of Saun, Bhadau and Asoj.
The lead traffic rule violators are motorcyclists. During the period, Rs 639,500 revenue was collected from 979 motorcycle riders.
Likewise, Rs 388,000 was collected from 385 cars and jeeps, Rs 240,000 from 349 trucks and tippers, Rs 342,000 from 493 tractors, Rs 274,500 from 419 buses and Rs 13,000 from other vehicles.
Nepal-German Mart 22 exhibition begins in Kathmandu
Nepal-German Mart 22 exhibition has taken place at the German Embassy, Gyaneshwor, Kathmandu today.

11th edition of the Nepal EU Film Festival kicks off in Kathmandu
Eleventh edition of the Nepal European Union Film Festival has kicked off in Kathmandu.
EU Ambassador to Nepal, Nona Deprez inaugurated the festival amid a function here on Friday evening.
At the event, she said the festival had become a platform for cultural exchanges between the EU and Nepal, and for understanding about the EU.
Nepal sees three new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of three new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.
Of the confirmed cases, all three cases were detected through the RT-PCR method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 370 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

NC will not allow to uproot constitution: Spokesperson Dr Mahat
Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said the democratic-left alliance was formed in the upcoming elections to safeguard the Constitution and keep political stability in the country.
At the cadres’ training program of the alliance held in Lalitpur on Saturday, he highlighted the need of constitutional amendment so as to addresses its lapses and lacunas, and also pledged to amend the statute in keeping with the essence.
“We would amend the constitution based on the national consensus but not allow any force to shake the foundation of the main law of the land”, Dr Mahat added. He also directed the leaders and cadres to emerge the common candidates of the alliance victorious.
