President Bhandari to offer Dashain Tika to general public

President Bidya Devi Bhandari will offer Dashain Tika to the general public.

According to the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, time has been allocated for Ministers, Province Chiefs, Judges, Members of Federal Parliament, Officials of constitutional bodies and top officials from 2 to 3 pm on the main day of Dashami on October 5.

Interested general public can receive Dashain tika from the President from 3-5 pm.

6th Annual Coordination meeting of AFP and SSB concludes in Kathmandu

The 6th Annual Coordination meeting of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has concluded on Thursday.

The meeting that kicked off on Tuesday at APF Headquarters in Halchowk ended with the two sides signing an agreement for border cooperation.

The meeting was led by Raju Aryal Inspector General, APF, Nepal, and SSB Director-General S L Thaosen.

The meeting agreed to make control cross-border crime, make border security more effective and secure, continuously coordinate and cooperate and exchange information between the two security agencies.

In addition, the two sides agreed to continue establishing help desks at the border points and effective monitoring in the border area.

Nepal-India border security meeting is organized every year.

NPC Vice-chair highlights challenges to global economy

National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-chairman Dr Biswo Nath Poudel addressed to the opening session of the Third Ministerial Conference on Regional Economic Cooperation and Integration in Asia and the Pacific today.

While addressing the Conference, Dr Poudel highlighted the current state of the world economy in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges posed by the global crisis, the Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok, Thailand said.

NAC’s ground handling service gets certified

Issuing a press statement on Thursday, NAC Spokesperson Archana Khadka said all services of the ground handling, including load control, passenger and baggage handling, aircraft handling and loading, organization and management, aircraft ground movement are certified from the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO).

The ISAGO audit to be carried out every two year is given only if the airlines companies comply with a certain standards.

The ISAGO Certificate is awarded every two years only if certain standards were fulfilled from the ISAGO Audit and inspections carried out by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in different times.

Electric vehicles start plying in Lumbini

Electric vehicles that were waiting for a green signal for operation for at least three years here have come into operation from today.

The Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) took initiation to operate the vehicles for a trial of at least for 15 days.

LDT vice chair Awadesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey and LDT treasurer Siddhicharan Bhattarai jointly inaugurated the service amidst a program in Lumbini today.

Construction of Gajryang-Khimti transmission line completes

The construction of the 132-KV double circuit Gajryang-Khimti Transmission line has been over.

The structure is for the flow of power generated from the projects based in Khimti and Likhu rivers.

The length of the transmission line is 31 kilometers and 105 towers have been built.

It begins from the Gajryang of Gokuldhunga rural municipality in Ramechhap and ends at Naya Khimti substation at Sankhe (Phulasi) of Manthali municipality-13 in Ramechhap via Tamakoshi rural municipality in Dolakha.

Around one lakh people leave Kathmandu every day

With the arrival of the Dashain festival, the number of people leaving Kathmandu Valley has increased rapidly.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, an average of 100,000 people have been leaving the Valley every day since the day of Ghatasthapana (Monday).

Since the Dashain public holiday will start after Friday, the number of passengers leaving Kathmandu Valley will increase significantly.

This time around 2 million people are estimated to leave the valley during Dashain.

NEPSE rises 16.29 points to close at 1,853.76

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 16.29 points to close at 1,853.76 points on Thursday (today).

The NEPSE index registered a gain of 0.89 percent today. Similarly, the sensitive index rose by 3.83 points to close at 363.42 points.

The index that opened at 1,836.84 made an intraday low of 1,835.95, closed at intraday high of 1,853.76 points.

A total of 1,791,480 unit shares of 223 companies were traded throughout the day, resulting in a turnover of Rs 632 million.

Gold price up by Rs 1,200 per tola

The price of gold has increased by Rs 1,200 in the domestic market today.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the hallmark gold is being traded at Rs 92,800 per tola.

The price of the yellow metal was Rs 91,600 per tola on Wednesday.

45 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 45 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Thursday.

Of the confirmed cases, 25 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 20 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 2,678 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 1,307 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 1,371 through the Antigen method.
