KATHMANDU: The first ever Nepal Green Hydrogen Summit (NGHS) is going to be organized in Kathmandu on October 10-11.

MIT Group Foundation, Global NRN Foundation, Wind Power Nepal, Melbourne Institute of Technology, Kathmandu University, and ministries, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, are jointly organizing the two-day event.

According to the organizers, the aim of the summit is to discuss tangible ways to reduce the impact of climate change and increase investment in the clean energy sector and sustainable climate-friendly infrastructure to achieve economic growth.

The main theme of the Summit to be held in Hotel Soaltee is “Nepal Green Hydrogen Summit: An Antidote for Melting Himalayas.”

The organizers have said that the aim of the event also includes facilitating studies on Nepal’s potential for producing, storing, and distributing hydrogen energy.

“The purpose of the summit is to discuss and analyze the production of hydrogen energy in Nepal and the ways it can be used to reduce the impact of climate change and bolster food security amongst other sustainable agendas,” organizers said.

The conference will be attended by distinguished figures from Nepal’s industry and business sectors, representatives from various ministries and government offices, representatives from Nepal’s development partners, and representatives from the UN agencies and diplomatic missions.
