Indian Army-led delegation pays courtesy call on Prime Minister Deuba



KATHMANDU: A delegation of the Indian Army that arrived in Nepal for a five-day visit paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s official residence on Monday.

A 31-member team, including students participating in the ‘National Defense Course-62’ held at the National Defense College in New Delhi arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Their courtesy call to the PM, who is also the Defense Minister, took place on the second day of their visit.

The visiting delegation also met with Finance Minister Janardan Sharma at the Ministry of Finance today itself.

Prior to calling on the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister, the delegation also visited the Nepali Army headquarters in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu, and met with Chief of Army Staff General Prabhuram Sharma.

According to the military headquarters, talks on cooperation and mutual interests between the soldiers of the two countries were held during the meeting.

The visiting delegation also participated in interaction programs organized by the Nepali Army.

The delegation is led by Indian Navt Air Vice Marshal Tejveer Singh and comprises of officials from India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and the US.

The delegation is also to call on Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka.

Similarly, they are to to visit the central command headquarters in Pokhara on Tuesday.

The Indian Army  team will also visit various tourist and religious spots in Kathmandu and Pokhara, including Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Lumbini.
