SC hears contempt of court trial against Kathmandu Mayor Shah



KATHMANDU: The contempt of court case registered against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah was heard in the Supreme Court on Monday.

The contempt case was heard by a single bench of Justice Hari Krishna Karki.

Earlier, advocate Deepak Raj Joshi had filed a contempt of court case against Kathmandu Mayor Shah.

Balen reacted on social media to the Supreme Court’s interim order not to demolish the structure of Norvic Hospital.

Balen wrote: We sincerely request that the Constitution be amended and the Supreme Court be given the right to take action against structures built without passing the map and to pass the map.

Joshi filed a petition in the Supreme Court saying that his response was contempt of court.
