Monsoon mayhem: Over 270 houses inundated in Jhapa



JHAPA: As many as 277 houses in Jhapa have been inundated due to heavy rains for the past two days.

Heavy rains have affected people’s lives in Jhapa. Locals along the river have been directly affected by the floods.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, as many as 277 houses have been inundated so far.

Ten families have been displaced after the flood in Banyani River in Gauriganj Municipality-1.

According to Jhapa Chief Superintendent of Police Bishwamani Pokharel, some of the families in wards 3, 4 and 5 of Shivasatakshi Municipality have been displaced by the Kamal and Baniani rivers.

According to the Jhapa branch of the Nepal Red Cross Society, some families have been displaced due to the floods in Kamal Khola.

At least 50 houses in Shivasatakshi Municipality Ward No. 6 have been inundated due to the flood in the Shatakshi River.

Meanwhile, in Wards 5 and 6 of Gauradaha Municipality, 60 houses have been inundated due to the flood of Ratuwa River.

According to the Red Cross Damak, eight families have been displaced by the Ratuwa River.

One hundred and eighteen people from 33 families of the squatter settlement of Shivasatakshi-4 have been kept at Tribhuvan High School, Panchgachhi.
