Rs 5,000 per month for kidney, cancer, and spinal cord paralysis patients

KATHMANDU: The government has announced that it will provide Rs 5,000 monthly for patients undergoing kidney transplants and dialysis, cancer, and spinal cord paralysis patients from the Fiscal Year 2022/23.

Presenting the budget for the coming fiscal year in the House of Representatives on Sunday, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said that a budget of Rs 1.5 billion has been allocated for the medical treatment of such patients.

He said that the amount has been allocated to provide Rs 5,000 monthly for the cost of medicine to the people who have undergone kidney transplant and dialysis, those diagnosed with all types of cancer and the patients with spinal paralysis.

Similarly, Rs 10 billion has been allocated to complete the construction of 655 hospitals next year.

Finance Minister Sharma said that 98 types of medicines would be available free of cost from government health institutions.
