Helicopter stand-by in three places to search for the missing plane: Tara Air

KATHMANDU: Helicopter that flew from Pokhara to Jomsom on Sunday morning to search for the missing plane of Tara Air has returned after bad weather.

Issuing a statement on Sunday afternoon, Tara Air said that helicopters are on standby position in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Jomsom to search and rescue the missing aircraft.

The airlines said it would begin the search by air as soon as the weather improves.

Rescue teams of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Tara Air have been deployed to the spot.

The Tara Air twin-otter plane took off at 9:55 am Sunday with 19 passengers and three crew members on board.

The plane lost contact 12 minutes after takeoff. The pilot of Yeti Air, Basant Lama, was also on board.
