KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed the government’s firm commitment to further consolidate the pro-people republican system in the country by successfully completing the elections to the members of House of Representatives and National Assembly this year.
Prime Minister Deuba said this in his address to a main ceremony hosted by the Republic Day main Function Committee at Nepal Army Pavilion, Tundikhle, to mark the 15th Republc Day on Sunday.
The local level election was held in a free, fair and peaceful manner and the people-elected representatives are governing the country now, he added, PM Deuba said.
“The competitive, multi-party, democratic and republican system has further strengthened in the country with the successful completion of second term election of local level which is crucial to deliver services to the doorsteps of the people”.
Prime Minister Deuba further said that the country has made a leap forward on the backing of 2007 BS political revolution and other different struggles, adopted republican governance system with federal structures and enabled an environment for the people to be the citizens of an independent and sovereign country.
He called for all to fulfill the shared responsibility to advance Nepal as a progressive and prosperous country.
“There is a need of unity and collaboration among all political parties and Nepali people to build a progressive and prosperous country”, he underscored.
Holding different opinions and ideas among political parties is obvious in democracy, PM Deuba said common ideas and opinion on crucial national issues among the political parties and the people could only steer ahead the country to the right path of development and prosperity.
“The democratic republican system has gained its ground with success. Citizens’ rights have been fully guaranteed and the country is gradually becoming prosperous with social and economic viabilities. Our efforts are giving result in bringing positive changes in the lives of the people”, the Prime Minster noted.
He further highlighted the need of shared contributions from all sides to further enhance socio-economic transformation of the country.
The ceremony was attended by special dignitaries, including President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
