Construction of around 500 development projects halted in Banke



BANKE: Construction of more than 500 infrastructure development projects has been affected due to agitation of contractors.

Chairperson of Association of Contractors Banke, Tek Bahadur Khadka, said that construction of small and large-scale projects of around seven billion rupees has been affected after contractors halted construction activities demanding adjustment of price of construction materials as per price hike.

Contractors have been staging sit-in at the District Administration Office daily.

Budget expenditure is to be affected at local-level after contractors halted construction activities towards the end of the fiscal year.

Senior Vice-Chairperson of the Association, Leelaraj Upadhyay, shared that they have been compelled to launch agitation after they could not carry out construction activities following unexpected price hike.

The contractors have been demanding new price rate of construction materials in the district after the price hike of construction materials and petroleum products.
