Maoist Center Gosaikunda rural municipality chair candidate defects to UML



KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center candidate for the post of chairperson of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, has joined the CPN-UML.

Tenjing Chesang Tamang, who was also the Maoist in-charge in the rural municipality, declared his defection to the UML.

He had registered his candidature from the Maoist Center for the May 13 local level election.

Similarly, candidate for ward 5 chair of the rural municipality also deserted the Maoist Center and joined the UML.

UML leaders welcomed the new entrants into the party at a program on Thursday. On the occasion, claiming UML was a strong party, Tamang said he would also withdraw his candidacy filed earlier.

He added that he had left the Maoists after consultation with top leaders of the UML.
