Delegation from Nuwakot seeks PM’s role to sort out district issues

KATHMANDU: A delegation from Nuwakot led by Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and apprised him of several issues facing the district on Tuesday.

During a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence Baluwatar, the delegation apprised the government head that a delay in the completion of the Kakani-Nuwakot road project had largely caused inconvenience to the people. As the delegation said, it has been already 10 years since the finalization of the project contract.

Dr Mahat spoke the need for the Prime Minister’s initiation to see prompt progress in the project and get it completed. Besides, the delegation, through a memorandum, has urged the government to pay heed to the concerns of locals while managing a dumping site at Banchare Danda in the district.

More, the delegation sought government intervention to sort out problems related to the non-registration of Guthi land in remote villages in the district.

In response, the Prime Minister pledged to immediately consult chiefs concerned to find a solution to the issues the delegation raised in the memo.

NC central member and lawmakers Bahadur Singh Lama, NC district president Ramesh Mahat, and District Land Commission Nuwakot Chief Arjun Neupane were among those in the delegation.
