CAN-11 beats UK-based MCC by 19 runs in friendly match



POKHARA: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN)-11 involving Nepali women cricket players defeated visiting Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) based in the United Kingdom by 19 runs in a friendly match on Friday at the cricket ground in the Pokhara Stadium.

Elected to bat first after winning the toss, CAN-11 hit 99 runs in allotted 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets.

Chasing the 100-run target, MCC was restricted to 80 runs in 19.5 overs.

For CAN-11, Capitan Rubina Chhetri claimed five wickets with a hat-trick helping the team win the match.

Similarly, Neri Thapa top-scored with 18 runs off 31 balls, including two boundaries.

Chhetri was announced the player of the match in the game.

Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhanraj Acharya distributed trophies and certificates to the winner.

MCC is scheduled to play a one-day match on Saturday, according to Chairperson of the Cricket Association of Kaski, Sanjaya Kanta Sigdel.
