US Assistant Secretary of State Lu to hold talks with PM Deuba Friday



KATHMANDU: US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, who is arriving in Kathmandu on Thursday, is scheduled to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday.

According to Baluwatar sources, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Deuba at 3 pm on Friday.

It has been learned that he will participate in an award distribution program to be held in Kathmandu.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the American Embassy in Kathmandu have not given official information about Lu’s visit to Kathmandu.

While in Kathmandu, he will also meet Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka. His other appointments have not been disclosed.

Lu previously visited Nepal last November before the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nepal Compact was endorsed by Nepal’s House of Representatives.

Sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Lu is coming to Nepal on a two-day visit.

This is his second visit in the last one year.

He is scheduled to meet Nepal’s political leaders, including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka, and leaders of various political parties.

Lu visited Nepal on a two-day visit in November 2021.
