Prachanda challenges UML Chair Oli to become PM on his own

CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has challenged CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli to win the election alone and become the Prime Minister again.

Taking part in the ongoing discussion on the policies and programs of the government the Maoist Center Chairman asked the Oli to remember how he (Oli) was made Prime Minister.

Parliament passes policies and programs, budget speech on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The House of Representatives (HoR) under the Federal Parliament has passed the policy and program presented by the government for the coming Fiscal Year 2022/23.

The meeting held on Saturday passed the policies and programs of the government by a majority.

The HoR meeting has rejected the amendment proposals put forward by the opposition CPN-UML lawmakers by a majority.

14,402 women elected in local level elections across country

A total of 14,402 women have been elected in the May 13 local level elections as per the results made public so far.

It is 40.89 percent based on this figure. There were 55,699 women candidates in the election. There are 35,221 posts in 753 local levels.

385 independent candidates elected in May 13 elections

Altogether 385 independent candidates sealed the victory in the May 13 local election so far, according to the Election Commission of Nepal.

A total of 24 political parties had participated in the poll and of the 385 elected independent candidates, 266 were male and 119 female. Also, seven of them were elected mayor and six chairperson of rural municipality.

CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has hailed the mayors who have won independent candidatures in Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City as beautiful flowers of democracy.

Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives on Saturday, Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda congratulated the elected mayors Balendra Shah and Harka Sampang Rai and wished them success in working in cooperation with the political parties.
