Nepal and US share similar views on MCC explanatory notes: NC leader Mahat

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said Nepal and the United States share similar views on Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) explanatory notes.

Speaking at a press conference held at NC party office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, on Monday, Spokesperson Mahat claimed that Nepal and the United States shared similar views on US grant MCC.

Making public NC’s views on MCC, he said propaganda deliberately done on MCC had been dispelled with the ratification from parliament.

“Deliberate disinformation was circulated to make MCC controversial. MCC is not against any nation,” said Mahat. “Some leaders portrayed their double standards of late. The US-backed compact is purely financial aid. Nepal has never received such a large amount of financial assistance. Now as the fears are over, it must be utilized for Nepal’s economic development.”

He refuted that MCC was as part of any military alliance. “With the parliamentary ratification of MCC, now the grant would be wisely utilized.”
