Bharatpur metropolis distributes scholarship



CHITWAN: Bharatpur Metropolitan City has distributed scholarship to 692 students of 67 schools. The scholarship was distributed to the grade 1-8 students of endangered and marginalized community.

The metropolitan city distributed total scholarship amount of Rs 2,076,000. With this, each student got Rs 3,000. The metropolitan city’s educational administration division provided scholarship to 240 students of 11 schools.

Bharatpur mayor Renu Dahal and deputy mayor Parbati Shah Thakuri handed over the scholarship amount to the students. The metropolis provided cash scholarship for the first time to serve the objective of supporting the children of endangered and most disadvantaged community in their bid to educational pursuit.

Education Section Chief Mahendra Poudel shared that the metropolis has invested 15 percent of its total budget in education sector.
He further informed that the investment has been made on schools’ physical infrastructure development, promotion of text books, scholarship, mid-day meal, school bus distribution, bi-cycle distribution and other financial assistance.

Deputy mayor Shah said they had launched special campaign since the very beginning for the education sector development and it is now gradually yielding results.

The Division said the scholarship amount for the students of remaining schools was sent to the schools’ accounts through banking channel.
