80 political parties apply for registrations in EC



KATHMANDU:  As many as 80 political parties have applied for registrations in the Election Commission for local level elections to be held in 2079.

The EC had called for applications for registrations of the political parties to this effect from February 17 to 27.

According to the department of political parties’ management, a total of 80 political parties applied for registrations until Sunday evening to take part in the local level elections to be held in 2079.

Even though 110 political parties got recognition through the EC, only 80 political parties have applied for registrations for local level elections, 2079 BS, said Guru Prasad Wagle, the deputy attorney general of the EC.

Political parties have to apply for registrations to take part in the elections in line with Article 271 of the Constitution and Section 48 of the Political Parities Act, 2073.
