KATHMANDU: Main opposition party CPN-UML lawmakers have boycotted the National Assembly (NA) meeting on Monday afternoon.

UML lawmakers boycotted the meeting after the NA Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina summoned Finance Minister Janardan Sharma to answer questions raised by lawmakers on the Appropriation Bill for the coming fiscal year.

Immediately after Chairperson called Sharma for an answer, the UML lawmaker Devendra Dahal accused the Minister of misappropriation and started the protest.

UML lawmakers accused the Minister of involving unauthorized persons in budget making and demanded Minister Sharma’s resignation.

Immediately after that, the UML boycotted the meeting and walked out. Despite repeated requests by NA chairperson Timilsina not to boycott the meeting, the UML lawmakers walked out of the meeting hall.

However, Finance Minister Sharma addressed the lawmakers’ queries on the Appropriation Bill despite the UML boycott.
