Construction entrepreneurs to hold sit-in at the Prime Minister’s residence from Thursday

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) has decided to hold a sit-in at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar from Thursday.

FCAN President Ravi Singh informed that the construction entrepreneurs who have been staging a sit-in at the Public Procurement Monitoring Office for a week are about to start a sit-in at the Prime Minister’s residence accusing the government of turning its deaf ears towards their genuine demands.

“From now on, we will hold a one-hour sit-in from 9 am to 10 am in Baluwatar,” Singh said.

However, the Federation has postponed the sit-in in the Beema Samiti.

Singh informed that the sit-in in the Beema Samiti has been stopped as the government decided not to enforce the Beema Nirdeshika immediately.

Entrepreneurs have been agitating demanding the control of high prices of construction materials and the promulgation of construction industry-friendly laws.

Construction businessmen across the country have halted the construction services but for the most essential ones. FCAN has 17,000 entrepreneurs as its members.
