Chinese Foreign Minister Wang pays courtesy call on President Bhandari



KATHMANDU: Visiting Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi has paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday morning.

The meeting between Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang and President Bhandari was held at 10 am.

According to Sheetal Niwas sources, the issues related to bilateral interest were discussed during the meeting.

Similarly, Wang. who is on a three-day Nepal visit, is also scheduled to visit CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda today.

According to sources, the meeting between Wang and Oli will take place at Hotel Marriott at 11:10 am. Following the meeting with Oli, Maoist Chairman Prachanda will meet with Wang at Hotel Marriott itself. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 11:45 pam, sources have said.

The two leaders will dwell on bilateral interest and Belt and Road Initiative (BRB), it is learnt.

Officials from both countries signed nine sets of agreements on enhancing mutual cooperation following bilateral talks between Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka and his Chinese counterpart Wang on Saturday.

Welcoming his Chinese counterpart to the bilateral talks, Minister Khadka expressed his desire to take the centuries-old Nepal-China relations to a new height.

Minister Khadka also stressed the need for the timely completion of Chinese-assisted development projects during the meeting.
