MCC is for Nepal’s development: DSP Chair Thakur



KATHMANDU: Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur has said the United States grant agreement Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is in the best interest of Nepal’s development.

Putting his views in the discussion on the MCC in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday, he clarified that his party was in favor of ratifying MCC.

He said that the MCC was necessary for the development of Nepal. He stressed accepting MCC Compact grant recalling that the grant was for transmission line and road construction. He claimed that Nepal’s intellectual property would solely remain with Nepal.

Thakur said MCC grant was being provided at the request of Nepal government. Stating that MCC agreement was secured by completing all the procedures, he claimed that it would lead to the development of the country.
