House of Representatives meeting underway (Live)

Discussion on MCC starts amid UML obstruction

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) called for today has begun.

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma proposed the House to hold a general deliberation on the US-aid Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact reached between the Governments of Nepal and the US.

Lawmakers are putting forth their views on MCC at the moment as the main opposition continues its obstruction.

Earlier, the meeting scheduled for 1 pm was postponed for one hour. The meeting is taking place almost after two hours.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is also scheduled to present the Office of the Attorney General’s Annual Report, 2020/21 at the HOR today.

The ruling coalition’s Sunday morning meeting has already made an agreement to ratify MCC with an interpretive explanation.
